Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has provided an Eric Bailly injury update after Manchester United beat Watford 1-0.

Well, it wasn’t a vintage display by the Red Devils, though their name is in the hat for the FA Cup fourth round.

Scott McTominay would score the early goal, with the defence keeping a hard-fought clean sheet to ensure our safe progression. Eric Bailly would start this game, however, he’d be subbed off as the first-half drew to a close.

Why, you ask? Well, Dean Henderson would wipe him out while coming to claim a cross. Bailly would take a huge blow to the head via Henderson’s knee – which would have undoubtedly left Bailly dazed, confused and with a massive headache…


Well, Solskjaer met the media after the game and thankfully confirmed that there was no concussion for Bailly. Rather, the centre-half has a sore neck and he couldn’t carry on…

“There was no concussion. Apparently it was his neck, a sore neck, but he couldn’t carry on so let’s check on him tomorrow.” Solskjaer told reporters, including ManUtd.com.

It’s a shame because Bailly has been the flavour of the month amongst United fans. His performances have been a real throwback to his stellar debut season and it has been great to witness.

Being injury prone has always been the knock on Bailly. This time, though, it’s down to nothing but bad luck. I’d expect Henderson to come and do whatever necessary to claim the ball. It’s just unfortunate that he’d make contact with Bailly’s head in such a brutal manner.

Hopefully, Bailly is now resting up, feeling good and on the mend. I’m praying he’s ready to go in six days time against Liverpool, though United need to protect the player as neck issues aren’t to be taken lightly.
