DETOUR Gallery of Red Bank New Jersey and local Monmouth County playwright, Thomas Ryan Ward, are partnering to create an evening of new theater and charity; raising funds for the local Associated Humane Society and SoupBoneCharieties.org.
The event will be the premier public reading of Ward's latest play, AS SEEN ON TV, a romantic screwball comedy (ala Howard Hawks or Nora Ephron) which was commissioned by and will star award-winning actor, Frank Dicopoulos (formerly of The Guiding light). The cast will also feature television, stage, and new media personalities such as Teja Anderson, Lisa Sherman, Grayson Berry, Brett Lowell, Howard Smith, Emma Currie Smith, and Sam Pelissero. Pelissero (Ward's creative partner) will also be hosting the reading portion of the evening.
This ‘Romantic Screwball Comedy’ tells the story of a formerly successful ‘As Seen on TV’ Inventor and a talented painter turned Art Curator. A key moment within the storyline involves an animal-centric charity event at a chic art gallery and, thankfully, DETOUR Gallery of Red Bank has offered their space so as to create an exciting evening of classic 'Play within a Play' atmosphere for its 100 select attendees.
